GREEN MAMBA OUT TO CLAIM E250 000 PRIZE

Green Mamba’s bid to return to the podium for the first time in about five years continues when they welcome unpredictable Manzini Sundowns at Somhlolo National Stadium this afternoon.

Despite failing to get silverware this season, Green Mamba can still celebrate their rebirth, as they have a very good chance of finishing third for the first time since the 2012/13 season. They have already outdone themselves in terms of points tally after surpassing the 40-point tally for the first time in over five years. Last season, Green Mamba finished seventh with 29 points.

As they are five points clear of fourth-placed Manzini Wanderers, a draw will be enough to guarantee the home side a third place finish and E250 000 in prize money. Standing in the way of Caleb Ngwenya’s men are Sundowns, who hope to be party poopers. The latter have reasons to believe they can spoil the opposition’s party following a fair share of wins in previous meetings.  While the reverse fixture ended in a 1-all draw, no team celebrated a double in this fixture in recent meetings.
It is a tricky outing for Green Mamba, as seventh-placed Sundowns are still nursing hopes of a top five finish.
