MBABANE – As if the challenge of facing rocket-hot Liverpool marksman Mohamed Salah was not huge enough, Eurosport TV has acquired the rights from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to broadcast the Sihlangu-Egypt AFCON qualifier live in the whole of Europe.

AFCON is an acronym for the Africa Cup of Nations. This deal could be a landmark for local football as such has never happened before.

The match to be broadcast will be the second leg of the 2019 qualifiers, which will most certainly be hosted at the Somhlolo National Stadium in November. Salah has been in red-hot form for Liverpool in the English Premier League, considered the greatest football league in the world, and the UEFA Champions League, where his team took a significant stride towards qualifying for the finals after the tiny Egyptian scored twice in a 5-2 win over Italy’s AS Roma on Tuesday.

Salah’s form perhaps explains the interest of one of Europe’s leading television stations in the match. Information obtained from eurosport.com indicate that the live broadcast shall also include pre-match statistics, head to head records between the two teams, and other relevant information, historical and current, about both teams.
Spokesperson for the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS), Muzi Radebe said such could have a big impact in the development of the local game. He said this presented an opportunity for local players to gain a level of exposure never achieved before.
