MBABANE – Possibly it was the best way to say goodbye to the summer season as Mbabane Midas Motor Spares rained E10 000 to the Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA) yesterday.

The money will be competed for by the Mbabane Juniors Under-20 teams in a knockout format to begin soon.
Mbabane Midas branch Manager Simanga Dlamini, who was in the company of Financial Officer Dumsile Dlamini and Marketing Officer Gcebile Vilakati, handed over the cheque to HRFA yesterday at Sigwaca House.

Vilakati noted in her address that football was a prominent sport and as a Swazi company, they could not wait for an international organisation to sponsor our very own.

“Such sponsorships are the responsibility of Swazi companies and as Mbabane Midas we are happy to associate with football. The game of football teaches a lot about life and its values and it is our contribution towards football development,” the marketing officer said.

National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Frederick Mngomezulu said the partnership between Mbabane Midas and the HRFA was appreciated. He noted the good performance of the country’s National Under-20 squad in Sunday’s AFCON qualifier against the Malawi counterparts, and that such tournaments presented by Mbabane Midas will help bridge the population difference between countries in the sense that more players will be groomed at grassroots level.

ESwatini has one of the fewest populations with 1.3 million, according to the 2017 census.
“All players competing in this development leagues and knockouts stand a good chance to reach their top level and ultimately Sihlangu.
“As an association, we will continue to deliver courses across the football board from coaches, administrators and medics among others,” Mngomezulu said.
