MATSAPHA – It will be raining money for winners in the newly-launched JM Busha/Golden Foot 54 races billed for July 7.

The road race will feature 21.4km and 5.4km races that will all start and finish at Malkerns Country Club. Over 2 000 athletes are expected to compete.

The winners in both males and females will take home E4 000 each in the senior category.
The runners-up will get E3 000 with third finishers receiving E1 500. This is a huge financial incentive for a half marathon as usual the first prize is E3 000 if not E1 500. Golden Foot Athletics Club Chairperson Tokky Hou said they were happy that the prizes would also be received from the 5.4km race. She encouraged people to register for the race as soon as possible.

“We are excited as a club to host such a big event and we are confident that it will be a great success and achieve its goal of uniting and promoting peace not only in the country but with the rest of the continent,” he said. Hou said the race would benefit local athletes as they will have the chance to compete in other countries where they will share their experience and also earn a living through running.
Hou said registration would be online and some of venues they will announce soon.
