MBABANE - He sunk the black better than all. That is the story of Mbabane Express Car Wash Pool Singles League champion, Elvis Van Aardt who won the league in the last two deciding games.

Elvis managed to beat Sharp Shooters Pool Club’s Dumisani Mnyakeni 5-0 and Tevez Mthimkhulu 5-1.
The champion finished the league on 105 points, two ahead of runners-up Jairus Mhlanga.

“I am happy that I have been consistent since the start of the season and this has paid off handsomely as I have eventually won the league. In most tournaments, I have been a runner-up, third or fourth. I used to train throughout the week in order to prepare for my weekend games,” he said.

Meanwhile, it was so near yet so far for second-placed Mhlanga despite winning his last game against veteran pool player and Mbabane Mayor Sikhatsi Dlamini. He only finished on 103 points.

Finishing third was Mnyakeni on 92 points after 34 games while Makhosini Mthupha came fourth on 84 points.
League coordinator Sandile Mamba said the season went well and congratulated the champions and all the players for making it a success.

“We will have a prize presentation on Saturday at the car wash’s premises in Mbabane near Pick ‘n’ Pay. We urge all our pool players to attend the presentation. We also want to congratulate Elvis for his good display throughout the season,” Mamba said.
The league is sponsored to the tune of E10 000, a portion of the E40 000 which covers the whole sponsorship for the league including teams which Bel Air won.
It is sponsored by the Mbabane Car Wash.
