PERFORMANCE NOT GOOD ENOUGH – ‘PROFESSOR’

LOBAMBA – Mbabane Highlanders coach Mlungisi ‘Professor’ Ngubane noted rustiness among his charges in the 3-0 win over Red Lions yesterday.

Reacting to the big win in an MTN Premier League clash at Somhlolo National Stadium, Ngubane felt his outfit lost their rhythm during the break.

“The performance is not good enough, as we should have scored more. The break killed the momentum. I’m only happy about the result, as the points are taking us somewhere,” he said.

Highlanders moved two places up the charts to occupy the fifth spot with 34 points.
Red Lions coach, Dumsani Mhlanga, whose charges were condemned to relegation for the second time in five years, blamed the setback on tactical ill-discipline.

“The plan was to foil Highlanders’ wing attack and then launch counter-attacks. It worked in the first 15 minutes.
“We lost shape and we should have done better in avoiding the first goal, which derailed us. Overall, we put up a brave fight,” he said.
Mhlanga assured that the team would quickly bounce back from the National First Division.

“I’m ready to go down with the team, but it will depend on management.
“We have young players, who can do the required job in the First Division,” he said.

The last time Red Lions were relegated was in the 2012/13 season. They finished at the basement with 13 points and went down with Highlanders for one season.
