MBABANE – “Blessed is the hand that gives than the one that takes.”

This is how Minister of Sports Culture and Youth Affairs David Cruiser Ngcamphalala received a set of soccer jersey for his community and Bibles from the Swaziland Bible Society on Thursday.

The kind gesture was part of the organisation’s much anticipated second edition of the soccer tournament to be held on June 9 where Manzini Wanderers will once again contest defending champions Manzini Sundowns.
The aim for the tournament is to merge sports with God through the promotion of Bible reading.

Bible Society Chairperson Dr Nomsa Mndzebele accompanied by board member Celucolo Mavimbela, Acting CEO Vumile Fakudze gospel artist Mduduzi ‘Gawuzela’ Simelane had paid a courtesy call to the minister in his office at Gwamile Street on the eve of Good Friday to formally invite him to grace the June 9 event at Mavuso Sports Centre.
They also presented the politician with a soccer kit for his community which will be among the 10 communities that will take part in the pre-final competition. The Christian body will be hosting soccer tournaments in the 10 communities where the entry fee will be a Bible.
“We invite the minister to both the launch and the Main event on June 9. We have brought along Bibles for the minister, his officers and the one that should remain in his office for internal services,” she said.
Ngcamphalala hailed the involvement of churches in sports especially football. He said the initiative is win-win for both the church and teams as they will interact easily.
