MBABANE – The live broadcast of the Ingwenyama Cup finals by SuperSport did wonders for the country. Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala said after the game, he received accolades from his colleagues in countries including Lesotho, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe, among others.

Ngcamphalala said all these ministers were highly impressed by the involvement of His Majesty King Mswati III, in promotion and development of sports and culture. He said now as a country, we have to continue working hard in sports as people were now earning a living through sports.

Ngcamphalala was addressing the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games squad that he was bidding farewell yesterday.
“His Majesty King Mswati III has shown his love for sports not only football. The Ingwenyama Cup was watched all over the world and I got a positive response from my colleagues, mostly in the SADC region,” he said.

Ngcamphalala urged the team that comprises boxing, athletics and cycling to perform to their level best and represent the country well. He said he will be joining the team in Australia as he will be attending a ministers’ meeting during the duration of the games.

Swaziland National Sport and Recreation Council (SNSRC) Chief Executive Officer Darius Dlomo said the squad had good preparations ahead of the games. He said cycling went to Rwanda while boxing attended some tournaments in South Africa, same applies to athletes.

“Thanks to the Olympic Committee and the government through the minister of Sports for their continued support of Commonwealth Games squad. The team will leave the country with their heads high as they are well prepared and well presentable as they are well dressed,” he said.
