ATHLETICS GET E10 000 FOR INGWENYAMA CUP

MBABANE – The Commonwealth Games-bound team will take to the lanes for tomorrow’s eagerly anticipated Ingwenyama Cup final at Somhlolo National Stadium.

The athletics side of the richly sponsored tournament has been allocated E10 000 and is one of the main drawcards of the main day to graced by Their Majesties and shown live on television heavyweights Supersport across the continent.

The athletics will feature 5 000m and 3 000m events early in the morning in a jam-packed family fun day that also includes matches between chief executive officers (CEOs) and Members of Parliament (MPS) and what will surely be a comedy of footballing errors between Princes and Chiefs.     

“The technical team is working on the start lists, but Commonwealth Athletes won’t be part of the festivities as it is time for the new and upcoming talent to shine. There is E10 000 allocated for the athletics events and athletes will have good prizes. It’s going to be quite exciting and people should expect to be thrilled,” said Athletics Association of Swaziland (AAS) Secretary General Thoba Mazibuko.
