MBABANE – Lanky forward Sandile Hlatshwako will play no part in record-breaking Mbabane Swallows’ CAF Champions League group stages opener.

The Sihlangu striker has been suspended after accumulating two yellow cards. In both instances, he was cautioned for dissent by word. He picked the cards in his team’s home matches against Bantu FC of Lesotho and Zambia’s Zanaco FC.

“A  player  who  receives  two  cautions  shall  be  automatically  suspended  from  playing  the subsequent match  in  CAF  inter-clubs  competitions. “This automatic suspension shall be communicated by the Secretariat to the concerned associations,” read the tournament rules.

He is a third player from the capital city giants to serve a one match ban. Crafty midfielder Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu and full-back Sanele Mkhweli were suspended in the CAF Champions League first round first leg clash against Zanaco away in Zambia
Team captain Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze had also suggested that they would be without one of his players in the next game, but stressed that it would do little to dampen their spirit.

Vilakati, after Saturday’s game, felt the continued picking of yellow cards was a concern, highlighting the need to be cautious in upcoming fixtures.

At the end of the group matches, the cautions that do not lead to a suspension are cancelled.
As they are now through to the group stages, Swallows are allowed to bolster the squad. Vilakati, in a post match interview, had hinted the side needed strengthening, as he was parading a thin squad.
