MBABANE – How the mighty have fallen! This is the story of one of former elite sides, Mhlambanyatsi Rovers who now play in the MP Jele Usutu Promotion League.

Rovers were one of the most feared sides in the Premier League during their heyday and produced stars like Mbabane Swallows’ Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze, Manzini Wanderers’ Lwazi ‘Shana’ Maziya, Young Buffaloes’ Mphile Tsabedze and retired star Lwazi ‘Zidane’ Maziya, among many other big names.

They were even given the tag name of giant slayers as they were a threat to the big teams like Mbabane Swallows, Mbabane Highlanders and Manzini Wanderers.
Now the team which once became a household name, under coach Gcina ‘Magiyane’ Dlamini and renowned as the ‘School of Excellence’ is struggling to shine in the fourth division.
This past weekend, Rovers lost to fifth-placed Luhleko Peacemakers 0-1.

They were denied a chance to jump to the second spot by the Luhleko-based team. Rovers are currently third on 30 points after 14 games, four points behind the log leaders Othandweni Swallows.
The latter managed to beat Buffaloes to maintain the top spot.

Meanwhile, Young International licked Commandos to jump to the second spot.
