MBABANE – South Africans Rofhiwa ‘War Child’ Maemu and Ayanda ‘Greyhound’ Nkosi defended their World Boxing Association (WBA) titles at Royal Swazi Spa, Ezulwini on Friday night.

Rofhiwa defended his WBA Pan African Featherweight title against Tanzanian Haidari ‘Blue Fire’ Mchanjo by knockout after the referee stopped the bout two minutes and 30 seconds into the third round at the Fox Sports Boxing Bonanza. The ‘War Child’ was simply too big and too strong for the Tanzanian who endured blow-after-blow during his time in the ring. The South African used his reach and quick hands to earn the 16th win of his career (W16 D1 L7).

Nkosi on the other hand beat Kenyan Michael ‘Hurricane’ Odhiambo also by knockout at the start of the sixth round to defend his WBA Pan African Lightweight title. It was a highly impressive display from Nkosi who used his reach and strength to win the fight, consistently using his left-jab and right-straight to beat down the Kenyan fighter who offered very little in the way of attack.

The victory sees Nkosi defend his title with the eighth win of his career (W8 D0 L1) and he will now look to further climb the ranks of the international lightweight division.

In attendance during the Fox Sports Boxing Bonanza was Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala who presented the winners with their belts.
