MATSAPHA – As the Valentine’s Day sweeps through the hearts of many lovers; a bank with a heart has unwaveringly shown its affectionate side to the game of football.

Propelled by a new slogan ‘Uyayifuna Na!, the financial institution  has demonstrated it’s affection by increasing this year’s SwaziBank Cup sponsorship from E2.4 million to E2.6 million in the next three years.

The total package therefore stands at E7.8 million and it reflects a E600 000 increase in the three years from the E7.2 million.
The 15th edition of the competition was launched at Esibayeni Lodge yesterday morning and it kicks off with a preliminary round scheduled for Tuesday, where former winners Hub Sundowns visits Manzini Sea Birds, the other clash pits Milling Hotspurs against Rangers F.C from the Shiselweni region.

The winner of the first tie will play Green Mamba with Mbabane Swallows taking on the winner of the second tie.

When announcing the sponsorship package, SwaziBank Managing Director Zakhele Lukhele said the grand prize money stands at E1 million plus a ticket to the 2019 Total CAF Confederation Cup.

But instead, it will be the runners-up who will see their share shot up from E400 000 to E450 000. Semi final losers will pocket E120 000 each, an increase of E100 000 from the previous season. Quarter-finalists will get E25 000 each this year, a E5000 increased from the previous editions of the cup.

Other biggest winners will be the Player of the Series who will win E15 000 this year, from the E13 000. The Best Coach will walk away with E9 000 an increase of E500 from the last edition. It will be merry as well for Best Finishers from both the National First Division and Super League who will be incentivised with E15 000 from E10 000 last year. “Today we launch the 15th edition of the SwaziBank Cup knockout tournament which has become the flagship of the bank’s Corporate Investment Programme,” Lukhele said.

He said the bank was committed to developing Swazi football, and that has been demonstrated by their continued sponsorship of the SwaziBank Cup.
