MBABANE – Zenzele ‘Ace’ Dlamini is the new coach of Manzini Sundowns.

The towering mentor had only last week been in charge of National First Division side, Amalanda F.C. However, a source close to the mentor disclosed that he was then approached by the ‘Kappa Boys’ with the view to lead them until the end of the season. He was introduced to the players on Tuesday evening, where he was said to have started drilling the team as it prepared to face Sundowns, PRO Muzi Matsenjwa confirmed the matter when quizzed yesterday. He said the coach, who was last in charge of the team in the 2007/08 season, has rejoined them for the remainder of the season. “Ace brings with him invaluable experience. He is undoubtedly one of the most successful coaches in the country and Sundowns is pleased to have him back,” he said.

He said there was still a lot to play for this season, with the SwaziBank Cup which will be launched today, plus six MTN League games.  Dlamini will work with Musa Manyatsi, who has been holding the fort since the departure of Enerst Mavuso to Moneni Pirates late last year. “Manyatsi has done a fantastic job while he was at the helm of the team. And except for ‘Ace’s addition, the technical bench remain unchanged,” he said. Dlamini’s first game will be Saturday’s MTN League clash against Royal Leopard at the Mavuso Sports Centre at 2pm. The game will precede the hub derby pitting Manzini Wanderers against Moneni Pirates at 4pm. ‘Ace’ could not be reached for comment yesterday despite being called numerous times, as his cellphone was switched off. The last call was made at 7pm. Dlamini was credited for saving the Kappa Boys from relegation in January 2008, where he lifted them with eight games to go to the top eight. However, in his first game in charge of the club, he lost to then Manzini Super League side Zwicle F.C in the preliminary round of the SwaziBank Cup.
