LOBAMBA – There is just something special with this Green Mamba side under Caleb Ngwenya.

With all the attention on last night’s game at Somhlolo National Stadium squarely on him, Ngwenya has found the cohesion to propel Green Mamba from bottom of the table side four months ago to overnight title challengers.

Mathematically, the Correctional Services side can still lay their hands on the ‘Holy Grail’ of local football as they continue to keep sight of the leading pack, brushing aside Vovovo 2-0 here at Somhlolo National Stadium.

On September 23, 2017, Ngwenya masterminded Vovovo’s win over Green Mamba but last night he was on the opposite bench. His charges did not even need to engage the second gear last night as Vovovo treated Green Mamba’s big box like a no-go area, barely troubling Thokozani Mkhulisi who kept a clean sheet in successive matches following his debut last Saturday against Red Lions.

Diminutive attacker Njabulo Tfwala opened the scorers’ chart after 24 minutes- toe poking home from close range an effort that came on the underside of the crossbar from a clever Mpendulo Mamba pull-back. It was the perfect start but the former Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows man should have scored earlier on when his perfectly curled effort on the counter missed the target by inches.

It is a morale booster for Njabulo, who has scored in his successive match and his fourth of the campaign.
Midfielder Mcolisi Mkhontfo crushed Vovovo’s hopes of a late comeback after 73 minutes with a stunning free kick from the edge of the big box that beat goalkeeper Tutu Gama hands down to double Green Mamba’s advantage.

Vovovo created little if nothing at all in the final third, where it matters the most and it could have been an avalanche of goals for the hosts had they been clinical,
Njabulo had his own free kick bouncing off the upright in the hour mark with the slightest of touches needed from that congested box. It mattered little though as Mcolisi ensured all points were bagged.
