KALANGA – Mbabane Swallows players will stop at nothing to fulfil the club’s assassinated Chairman Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze’s dream to be the best - always.

Gamedze wanted to defend the league without losing a match and just like last season, take Swallows to the CAF Champions League knockout stage and further qualify the national team Sihlangu into its first-ever AFCON Cup.

“It’s tough times but because we know what he would want, we will have to soldier on. We also know he will always be with us in spirit to guide us even though we won’t see him,” said midfielder Felix Badenhorst.

He said words could not describe the feeling they had on Sunday morning as they carried his casket.
“Words cannot describe how we feel and it was clear in everyone’s eyes that we have lost a great man.

“As we carried the casket, we still didn’t believe it until we saw the casket slowly going down the grave,” he said.
He also thanked God for the privilege to have been under a man of Gamedze’s calibre.

He said they were always going to miss him. His teammate in lanky striker Sandile Hlatshwako said the country lost a father.
“He was a father to many and it’s a great loss. I am even at a loss for words but I know we have to live his dream, and we will,” he said.
He said it saddened them more that they carried Gamedze’s casket to his grave.

“I never imagined it and it hurt us because he was not sick,” he said.
He emphasised that their objective was to remain strong and live Gamedze’s dream. His teammate and left back Sanele Mkhweli said he felt devastated and hurt because he couldn’t imagine life without Gamedze but God knows why “He took him so early”.
