GAMEDZE FAMILY REMAINS IN CHARGE OF SWALLOWS

MBABANE – The slain Mbabane Swallows Chairman Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze’s legacy lives on in as far as power is concerned in the club – his family remains in charge.

In a condolences statement by the club’s PRO (interim) Bongani ‘Under Control’, Mamba who also served the club as the Board of Directors’ Secretary a few years ago, the future of Swallows is also briefly touched on. This could give a hint to many worrying or rejoicing fans for various reasons that the club will not perish.

“On the future of the team, we stand to be guided be the Gamedze family as they remain the centre pillar of the team. We shall not despair or be disjointed. We shall be strong and resilient to fulfil Gamedze’s vision.

“The centre of power remains unmoved and shall not move from the Gamedze family,” Mamba said in his statement.
However, Mamba said for now, they and the family were mourning and not ready to talk about these issues. He had said on national radio, SBIS yesterday morning, that the club’s elders would soon meet on the future of the club.

He sent the club’s deepest and heartfelt condolences to Their Majesties, Gamedze’s wife, Gamedze family, elders, the business community and all stakeholders on the untimely tragic demise of Gamedze. “Under the circumstances, we can only leave all to the hands of God,” he said.

If things go as the team says about its leadership, they will have followed in the footsteps of Moneni Pirates who after the demise of Matsenjwa, remained indebted to his family which is always aware of anything happening in the club.

The assurance statement comes just a day after the club’s former players had also implored the Birds faithful to have faith that a ‘Joshua’ would emerge to take over Gamedze who they described as the ‘Moses.’

Meanwhile, Gamedze was shot twice in the head after Swallows’ game against Manzini Wanderers in the Ingwenyama Cup quarter-finals. He was shot at around 7pm at Ezulwini, Galp Filling Station in what has been confirmed a clear assassination by the police as the murder was well orchestrated.
