MBABANE – After nearly a decade without a major trophy in their cabinet, Mbabane Highlanders expect their returning CEO Celucolo ‘Dino’ Dlamini and company to win this year’s SwaziBank Cup.

That is the task of the CEO and his newly-appointed Management Committee (MC) which is yet to have its first official match in charge since the change in management towards the end of last year. Dlamini, who is not new to Highlanders was with them during the time of then sole director Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane.

During his tenure, he was close to bringing back the good times in the ‘Bull’s kraal in Ingwenyama Cup second edition but they were booted out by Green Mamba in penalties in the Last 8 at Mayaluka Stadium.

However, he had also played a big role in ensuring Highlanders won the MTN League first round in the 2015/2016 season before the club went on to finish second in the league with a point difference between them and champions Royal Leopard.

“We have been tasked to ensure the team finishes in a respectable position inside the top eight but the bigger task is to win the SwaziBank Cup. The team’s directors requested that we do our best to bring a trophy into the Highlanders’ family this season and it’s obviously the SwaziBank Cup that is left to play,” he said.

He said looking at the club’s games this season, it was all achievable given that not one team managed to beat them hands down but said all their games have been close. He also said they were already seeing the positives since their appointment with regard to support from the directors who are in constant communication with the MC.
