MBABANE – Striker Mfanfikile ‘Fash’ Ndzimandze has only six months to impress Mbombela United if he is to sign a lengthy contract.

The Mbabane Highlanders striker left the country yesterday to join the South Africa’s National First Division League side. A source close to the matter said Ndzimandze will make his debut on Saturday when Mbombela United host Ubuntu Cape Town. Ndzimandze’s move to South Africa has left Moneni Pirates in awe and shock. Highlanders cleared the striker to the South Africa side, while they still owe Moneni Pirates E50 000 balance from the initial E150 000. Pirates were not aware of the fact that Ndzimandze has signed for the South African National First Division League side on a six-month loan deal. Pirates have already filed a letter of demand at the High Court for the E50 000 balance.

Pirates Chairman Osborne Nzima said it was news him that the player was being transferred to another team without their knowledge. He jokingly said maybe they want to pay with the money they will get from Mbombela United.
“Mbombela United first want to put the player on a six-month trial period and if he impresses them, they will come for a permanent deal and if he fails to impress, he will come back to Highlanders,” said the source. Mbombela United are fourth on the log, six points away from leaders, Highlands Park in the National First Division League. Ndzimandze will link up with another Swazi player, Njabulo Shongwe, who also plays for Mbombela. Highlanders Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Celucolo ‘Dino’ Dlamini said for now nothing yet has been finalised between the two sides.

“It is true that the team is engaged in negotiations with Mbombela United over ‘Fash’ but the matter is handled by the directors. We will make a formal statement once the negotiations are done,” he said. Dlamini said they were aware about the E50 000 they owe to Moneni Pirates for the player and they were working on the matter. He said as a team, they cannot deny a player to play in a professional environment and that he believes the negotiations will be positive. “We respect Moneni Pirates and we are working on the matter and we are confident that this matter will be over soon. Pirates is a team that we respect and we want to continue assisting each other in future,” he said.
