MBABANE – The cruel hands of death have struck again in the football fraternity.

This follows the demise of Hlatikhulu Tycoons midfielder Thanduxolo ‘Mandela’ Malinga.
The 21-year-old was electrocuted on New Year’s Eve at his home Gege after he had climbed onto the roof of a family house to seal a leak when tragedy struck.

He was electrocuted by the roof and later confirmed dead.
He last appeared for the MTN National First Division League (NFAS) side during the 4-3 loss to Manzini Sundowns in the Ingwenyama Cup last 16 after penalties on December 16, 2017. He was introduced to the game in the second half.

He was also part of the team that shocked Malanti Chiefs 3-1 in the last 32 matches at Somhlolo National Stadium. He was wearing the famous jersey number 15 at Hlatikhulu Tycoons.
Tycoons Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sandile Masuku confirmed the news yesterday.

He said as a club they were still shocked by the incident.
“We send our condolences as a team and he was part of the club. He had a great future in football as he was still young,” he said.
Masuku said as a team they were not financially stable to give the support the player deserved.

He pleaded with the clubs supporters to come together at this dark hour and assist Malinga’s family.  He said those around Mbabane may contact him on 76577866 and those in Hlatsi where the club is based Bandla Dlamini on 7618 7817, Thiba 7622 6845 and in Nhlangano Sifiso Tsela at 7614 4554.
