MBABANE – Some of the country’s cyclists are expected to rub shoulders with the continent’s finest next month.

The African Cycling Confederation (CAC) has invited the country to the Continental Road Championships that will take place between February 13 and 18 in Kigali, Rwanda. Cycling Association of Swaziland (CAS) confirmed receipt of a correspondence from CAC President Dr. Mohammed Wagih Azzam on Tuesday.

Logistics

Reacting to the latest developments, Nhlabatsi felt it was too early to announce logistics of the trip, as his office just got the invitation yesterday, but assured that team Swaziland would be represented in the continental championships.

Events for the championships include time trials for both individuals and teams. The main attraction will again be the road races for both men and women.

In the past year, the event was staged in Egypt. Representing the country was the forceful trio of Muzi Shabangu, Darren Dunn, and Sicelo Phiri.
They endured their respective events, but were unlucky not to make the podium.
