MBABANE – Top female cyclist Carol Preat is now a member of the Swaziland National Sports and Recreation Council (SNSRC) Board.

Preat was announced alongside Ministry of Sports Under Secretary Nhlanhla Motsa and Minister of Finance Principal Secretary representative, Hilton Dlamini as additional members to a completely unchanged Board named by Minister David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala at Mountain Inn Hotel in Mbabane yesterday morning.

Motsa replaces Henry Zeeman, who is now with the King’s Office. Lawrence ‘Lolo’ Mthethwa continues as chairman, as government has approved another three-year term for the Board.

“The term of the outgoing Board has come to an end but because of the good work done, it pleases government to retain it (board) to office for a further three years. They (board) have done a great job in putting the country on the map in as far as sports are concerned,” Ngcamphalala said as he explained that one cannot fix an unbroken car.

Preat said she was humbled and honoured by the minister’s recognition and courtesy visit to lure her to the Board.
“The minister has seen the strides made by cycling but my contribution will be towards all sporting codes development,” she said.
Minister Ngcamphalala also said he was happy with the gender balance in the Board, which augers well with the United Nations programmes. Women representation in the Board is at 44 per cent.
