MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders have been slapped with a E45 000 fine for misconduct.

The ‘Black Bull’ appeared before the Thulani Sibandze-chaired National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Disciplinary Committee facing three counts of misconduct following the throwing of objects towards the field of play during the 0-1 loss to Manzini Wanderers at Somhlolo National Stadium on November 26.

The outfit had pleaded guilty to two of the three counts and were let of the hook in one of the charges as they successfully argued that they made attempts to avert the situation. The three counts were that of throwing the objects, interrupting the match and failure to control the fans.  They will pay E45 000 out of a possible E70 000 fine.

Highlanders were represented by Nkosingivile Dlamini from Robinson Bertram Attorneys. The lawyer was accompanied by team officials that included team PRO, Mpumelelo Mnisi, and his assistant, Maxwell Masuku, among others. The former preferred not to say anything on the matter, as he needed to inform the directors about the verdict first.

Over two months ago, Highlanders were also fined E50 000 following a separate incident for misconduct. A Mbabane Swallows fan that wandered into their stand at Somhlolo National Stadium was heavily assaulted.
