MBABANE – National Commissioner of Police, Isaac Magagula has saluted RSP netball players for starring in the national side that won a silver medal in Singapore.

Hlengiwe Bhembe, Bathabile Nkambule, Tengetile Sibandze, Bongiwe Magagula and Sebenzile Nxumalo from Royal Swaziland Police, were in the forceful national squad that defied all odds to win a silver medal in the medal in the six-team Mission Foods Nations Cup in Singapore last Saturday. The latter was named the Most Valuable Player.

In recognition of the good performance, the players joined the police boss on the podium during a celebratory function at the institution’s headquarters in Mbabane on Wednesday.

The NATCOM conceded that the achievement was as a result of the joint effort with the other players from Correctional and Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force, but stressed that the police officers’ contribution was worth celebrating for his office. “One of our officers, Constable Sebenzile Nxumalo was awarded with the Most Valuable Player award. We wish to congratulate her for what we regard as truly a historic achievement.

“We do trust the experience you have garnered by partaking in the international tournament, will rub off to the rest  of your teammates and see the performance of the RSP netball team ascending to new heights,” said Magagula. Nxumalo said she was honoured by the recognition, thanking the commissioner for continued support.

Bongiwe Magagula, who played in all six matches in Singapore, in a separate interview, said the performance in Singapore was a springboard that would steer the national side to greater heights.
