MBABANE – The national team, Sihlangu coach Pieter De Jongh will be away from the country for two weeks.

The Netherlands coach is currently in London where he is attending a two-week coaching course. He left the country last week and he missed the kick-off of the Ingwenyama Cup from Friday to Sunday.

The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Frederick Mngomezulu said it is not the first time that the coach attended the course as he had requested to do so before.

“It is true that the coach is away. He is doing a coaching course in London and he left last week and he would be there for two weeks. He will again attend the next session maybe next year. It is not for the first time though,” he said.

Mngomezulu said the course will last for 18 months and he is attending it at his own expense.
The coach missing out in the recent games raised eyebrows as the Ingwenyama Cup avails the chance for him to watch closely some of the players playing in the regions and in the National First Division.

In his absence, his assistant Anthony Mdluli is monitoring the players.
Sihlangu’s next assignment is the World Cup qualifiers against Egypt billed for September next year.

This is after the 2018 World Cup teams including Senegal, Nigeria, Tunisia and Morocco requested to have the March matches cancelled, for them to prepare for the showpiece in Russia.
Sihlangu was due to play Tunisia in March.
