PALMA OUT OF INGWENYAMA CUP OPENER

MBABANE – Ingwenyama Cup defending champions Mbabane Swallows will have to start their journey without their defender, Mandla Palma.


The Sihlangu defender has been nabbed by the notorious yellow card rule following accumulating three cards. He received his third card against Matsapha United where they played to a 1-all draw last Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium.


According to the MTN Rules and Regulations Article 6(6.8), it stipulates that “Any player who accumulates three cautions (i.e. ‘yellow cards’) in any season shall be suspended from participation in the next one(1) match to be played by his team in any  official competition under the auspices of the PLS.”


The Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati led-charges will have to make a do without the influential central defender when they cross swords with Manzini Super league side, Stumbo XI in the last 32 of the Swaziland Motor Vehicle Accident Fund sponsored tournament on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium.


Manzini Wanderers are also facing the same fate as they will be minus skilful midfielder Sifiso Matse.Other players that have been nabbed by the famous yellow card rule are Mbabane Highlanders’ Ndumiso Mabuza, Green Mamba duo of Thabiso Gumbi and goalpoacher Musa Dlami, Vovovo’s Phinda Nkonyane and Leon Manyisa and Midas City’s Machawe Mamba.
In the National First Division League, Amalanda’s Mcolisi Dladla, Hub Sundowns’ Nkosinathi Lushaba and Neliswa Nkambule have also been ruled out of this weekend’s games.
PLS Chief Operating Officer Pat Vilakati confirmed the list of suspended players yesterday.
