MBABANE – The national Under-20 squad will boast of Premier League flair when they compete in the COSAFA Under-20 Championships in Kitwe, Zambia.

These players include established stars in Manzini Wanderers Ali Matse, Mbabane Swallows Thandolwethu Shabalala, Moneni Pirates Order Mamba and Matsapha United’s Wandile Dlamini, among others. The team left the country yesterday morning for Zambia where they are to face Malawi tomorrow at 11:30am.

The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Vice President Comfort Shongwe challenged the squad to make history in the tournament.

“Go to Zambia and make history by winning the competition and also be good ambassadors of the country. There will be a lot of scouts in the championships, so it is important that you play to impress,” he said.

The team was bade farewell on Sunday afternoon at the Technical Centre, Lobamba. NFAS CEO Frederick Mngomezulu said they were sending the team as part of their development initiatives. He said they wanted the players to get international exposure.

The squad coach, Mandla ‘Sitofu’ Dlamini, said all was well with the players.
“The players are highly motivated for the tournament,” he said.
