SIMUNYE – The addition of new obstacles did little to deter fitness devotees from conquering yesterday’s new-look Swazi Warrior Fitness Challenge.

Simunye Country Club was a hive of activity as it was home to Swaziland’s most exciting fitness competition yesterday.
There were over five new obstacles on the day and they were headlined by the tyre swing. The latter involved swinging across hanging and jumbled tyres. Another exciting new exercise was the cargo net climb. Crawling under a net was also introduced for the first time.

The Thor’s Thumb, which is an exercise that involves flipping a pole with a heavy head, was also upgraded. The participants were made to flip a 50kg metal bar, a welcome change as the previous Thor’s Thumb weighed 60kg.
The trick in the challenge is to endure the challenges with the fastest time. There were 22 obstacles in total. Eyes were on Nkoyoyo-based soldier, Mzamo Mavuso, whose name has become synonymous with gold. He was yet to compete at the time of compiling this report. The results of the event were expected to be released last night.
