MBABANE – It is Y’ello everywhere you go.  MTN Swaziland has pumped in at least E5 132 684 across different sporting codes in the ending year.

The monies are from the period of January 2017 and now. A large chunk of MTN’s investment to sports has gone to football, slightly over E4 million because of their ongoing partnership with the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS).

The giant mobile telephony has in the ending year added basketball as partner with a whopping and historic E250 000 channelled towards the Swaziland National Basketball League (SNBL). The company has also contributed E350 000 towards the annual King’s Golf Cup tournament, while E135 000 has benefitted the MTN Monthly Masters hosted by Mbabane Golf Club.

The money excludes a hoist of social responsibilities among others, that include the annual 21-days of Y’ello Care. Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala refereed to MTN as the brand of Swazi sports during Monday night’s SNBL prize presentation at Mahlalekhukhwini House in Ezulwini, for their continued investment in the different sporting codes.

“We have had more sporting codes sponsored by MTN and government is proud of their contribution, not only to sports but socially. There is a need for great support to companies that plough back to the community. We will report MTN’s contribution to sports in Cabinet and I will invite some of my colleagues to some of the SNBL matches,” Ngcamphalala said as he addressed ballers during their night of glitz and glamour.
