18 MEDALS FOR SWIM LAB IN MPUMALANGA

MBABANE – The country’s Swim Lab swimmers were simply the best in the Mpumalanga Championships where they brought home 18 medals.


Five of the medals are gold and silver while eight are bronze medals. The club had sent 15 swimmers to the three-day championships held at the Van Riebeeck Park, Nelspruit from Friday to Sunday. The squad was led by coach Welcome Nhlabatsi.


The shining stars, who brought gold medals home, were Hayley Hoy who won three, and each for Mark Hoare and Timo Toepfer. The 10-year-old Toepfer also added three bronze medals while Hoy had one silver.


Others who won medals were Kayla Willmott, Robyn Young and Simanga Dlamini.
Others who were part of the squad include; Swakhile Dlamini, Keana Toepfer, Nedine Chenguione, Najma Karish, Damien De Sousa, Pedro De Sousa and John Abraham.


Coach Welcome Nhlabatsi said there were 16 teams that competed in the championships including those from Mozambique.
