CHAMINUKA’S CONTRACT IMPROVED

MBABANE – It is all well at Matsapha United for Zimbabwean coach Saul Chaminuka – according to the club’s website reports yesterday.

After reports of a contract rift Chaminuka and his team Matsapha United, the former’s contract has been improved. Chaminuka was early this week reportedly set not to return to the elite rookies due to contractual terms he wanted improved.
However, his team and himself have allayed fears he might not return from his home country where he had been and missed last week’s 2-0 loss to Young Buffaloes.

“Chaminuka is on his way back to the country and we expect he’ll be on time for our game tomorrow (today) so there’s no strike by the coach,” said the club’s CEO Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini yesterday in the national radio SBIS’ Sport Show. Chaminuka is quoted as saying he had to leave for home given the latest Robert Mugabe coup that has forced him to resign as his family was surrounded by uncertainty. He also reveals in the website article that as far as he was concerned, an improved contract has been agreed with his employers.

However, he never put pen to paper on grounds that he requested to focus on the first round as he believed they were still in the race for the E350 000 incentive. According to the report, Chaminuka’s contract was agreed in principle before their goalless draw with rivals Mbabane Highlanders in the MTN League.

“I am a professional and I do not negotiate my contract terms through the press. If anything the new contract was agreed on just before we played Highlanders and it was request to delay signing it,” he is quoted as saying.

Chaminuka explains that the rubble in his home country was settling and he could be here by the weekend. Matsapha play Royal Leopard this afternoon at Mavuso Sports Centre, kick off at 1:30pm.
