MBABANE – Are Mbabane Swallows players ducking tackles on and off the field? In a strongly worded comment from the club General Manager Sandile Zwane in their weekly column ‘Flying with the ‘Beautiful Birds’, the capital city giants alleged that the players were being enticed into wild partying by certain groups of female fans an act that is being viewed as distracting the team.

The team laments that the act was detrimental to the efforts put to build the all-conquering brand that has dominated local football since the fall of the new millennium. They alleged that some of the individuals involved have just started supporting the club, and some wear the club’s merchandise solely to lure their players. And they have threatened to ban the culprits.

“It has taken us 17 years to be precise and we will not allow fans to water down our efforts just like that all in the name of celebrating victories,” reads part of the statement from Zwane.

He said the club would never celebrate mediocrity and they just wondered what these fans and the players celebrate because by the club’s standard, they have not won anything yet.

“Why then do people mislead our players by partying and having sexual relationships with them? Why are the so called supporters encouraging something that will affect these players in the long run? We are known as a classy, stylish, respectful and elegant team. That is what makes us to be different from the rest,” Zwane said.

Chairman of the club’s supporters committee Jackson Dlamini said was dismayed at the act of the said individuals.
“I don’t want to believe that these are Swallows supporters.
