MBABANE – There can be no denying it now. The MTN League title race is upon the two teams, just a game into the second round of the season.

The Super Sunday clash between Mbabane Swallows and Young Buffaloes has all the ingredients of a title decider despite that there will be 12 more games to go before the season ends.

Two unbeaten teams in the season, who are being separated by a mere two points from each other, will square up in a game whose results would surely impact on the title race. At least there will be one this season, unlike last season where Swallows were the run-away leaders. Two strategists are the centre of this anticipated gruelling encounter.

Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati of Mbabane Swallows, a onetime mentor of his Young Buffaloes counterpart Dominic Kunene during his two-year stint at the army side five seasons ago, will fight this year’s title race. And Kunene, who for the entire first round has refused to be drawn in the title race talk, has finally realised that he can no longer shy away from the reality.

His team is in the race and he has to begin to it himself for his boys to understand the magnitude of the responsibility at hand.
“We have worked hard to be where we are now, and we still are doing that now ahead of the match on Sunday. We have to cement our place in the league and even though there are still many games before the season ends, but the significance of this one cannot be overlooked,” Kunene said.

He acknowledged the role played by Swallows incumbent coach ‘Koki’ in Buffaloes’ rise to stardom.
“I can say that we will implement the things he taught us and add more to try to be better this time,” he said.
