TEAM SD FOR ZONE 4 SENIOR MEN BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS

MBABANE – Swaziland Boxing Association (SWABA) will send a team for next February’s Zone 4 Senior Men Championships.

Mozambique’s capital Maputo will play host to the regional tournament on the week of 19 to 25 February. SWABA will use next month’s National Championships to select the national team.

Among the major decisions in last Saturday’s Zone 4 Congress in Pretoria, South Africa where SWABA was represented by President Pearl Dlamini and Treasurer Vincent Sihlongonyane was that the zone will now host annually the Men Youth and Junior Championships along with Women Championships to add on the Men Senior Championships. 

Swaziland missed out on last year’s Men Senior Championships because of financial constraints. “It is must participation for the country as the upcoming championships save as a qualifier for the African Boxing Confederation Championships which will be held in June 2018,” Dlamini said.
Also, the Zone 4 Games will assist National Federations to prepare for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Gold Coast, Australia in April 4-15, 2018.
