MANZINI – Money makes the world go round.

This adage holds true for Manzini Wanderers who have attributed the landmark Swazi Mobile sponsorship deal as being a catalyst in the recent good form that has seen the hub giants’ jump to third position on the MTN Premier League log standings after recording four wins on the bounce.

The maroon and white outfit, like Mbabane Highlanders, who they face in the MTN League opening second round clash on Sunday in the triple-header at Somhlolo National Stadium, received a sum of E200 000 from the dynamic mobile telecommunications company at the start of the season. Highlanders received a sum of E250 000 long before the start of the new season. Other benefactors from the E10.5 million launched about two months ago are two National First Division sides, Madlenya FC and Tinyosi FC.

An informed source told the Times Sports Desk that the hub giants received a sum of E200 000 just before participating in the season opener, the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup on August 27 and have been receiving a monthly stipend of E80 000 to cover their administration costs, mainly being salaries for the players.

Former Manzini Wanderers Managing Director (MD) and advocate, Mduduzi ‘Tsotsi’ Mabila, orchestrated the sponsorship deal on behalf of the hub giants reportedly worth E900 000 spread over three years.

“The sponsorship will be renewed every year and it comes in the form of E700 000 in cash and E200 000 in merchandise. Wanderers has already received over E500 000 and it is time to show appreciation to the sponsor for the kind gesture because to be honest, the major financier for Wanderers now is Swazi Mobile,” our deep throat at Wanderers said.
