NHLANGANO – A true captain Lwazi ‘Shana’ Maziya is for Manzini Wanderers.

His 55th minute header was the inspiration Wanderers needed to break the resistance of a stubborn Red Lions at the packed King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium yesterday in a tough MTN Premier League clash.
It was far from an easy game for Wanderers who struggled in the first half as Red Lions parked the bus and threatened on the counter. The only real chance for Wanderers came in the 10th minute but Aladeon Kola fumbled it over the bar from inside six yards, otherwise it was a drab and very physical first half.

It was in the second half that football was played by both sides, chances created but it was the maroon and white outfit that took theirs.
Their impressive captain headed in from six yards an Ayanda Kunene corner five minutes from the break.

This was his fourth headed goal this season for the hub giants and three of them have led to wins.
Winger Mike Dombo finally came to the party after a frustrating first half. He scored the second right at the death when he received a pass unmarked on the right wing, surged towards goal to score past Jim Knowledge, much to the amusement of their fans. He could have scored a hat trick if all his efforts went in but they missed the target by inches with Jim Knowledge at sea.

Red Lions were already a man down here after their talented South African Winger Katlego Piana was sent for a second bookable offence in the 80th. However, they were the team to watch going forward with their carpet football but lacked a finisher as their strikers were easily marked by the defence.

Lions were also lucky not to get a second red when midfielder Muzomuhle Dlamini deliberately hurt Shana with a career-threatening tackle that saw him replaced towards the end.
The result left Wanderers in fourth place with 24 points, three points ahead of Green Mamba, who also won yesterday.
Red Lions remain second from bottom with five points after 13 games.
