MBABANE – Trailblazing Mbabane Swallows 34-league game unbeaten run has cost them an arm and a leg.

Coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati is currently admitted to the Mbabane Clinic while South African midfielder Lazola Kunene, just a few kilometres apart, is lying at the Mbabane Government Hospital waiting to under-go a knee operation this week.

‘The Birds’, who are currently without striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa who underwent the craniotomy surgery recently, are waiting for Felix Badenhorst medical results after he  also sustained an injury to his knee during the 2-0 victory over Royal Leopard in the MTN Premier League on Saturday.

It is in the same game that Kunene was rushed to the hospital after sustaining a knee injury. He is expected to go under what is medically known as the patella operation this week.

Meanwhile, Vilakati was due to leave the country on Saturday for Tunisia where he was expected to spend a week attached to African giants CS Sfaxien. However, he has had to cancel the trip and during the match on Saturday against Royal Leopard, he was visibly not feeling well.

Vilakati was due to celebrate his birthday on Saturday before his departure on Sunday.
Swallows General Manager Sandile ‘Beyond 2 000’ Zwane confirmed yesterday that the players were waiting to undergo various operations.

“Yes it is true that Lazola suffered a bad injury and he will undergo an operation as per the doctors’ instructions. We are hopeful that he will bounce back and continue contributing to the team,” he said.
