NHLANGANO – After nine MTN League games equating to 810 minutes of football, Midas Mbabane City are still without a point.

The gravel start to the 2017/18 season continued unabated yesterday afternoon at the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium in Nhlangano with Royal Leopard adding salt to the gashing wound. A Bongani ‘Ngci’ Ndzimandze solitary strike, his first since joining the police outfit from Moneni Pirates in the winter transfer window, ensured Leopard returned to winning ways.

‘Ngci’ made space for himself between two City defenders to meet a perfectly looped Zweli ‘Mlilo’ Nxumalo pass on the right.
In all honesty, never mind the bad results, City are not a bad team. After conceding the soft goal, Artwell Dludlu’s charges took the game to their most fancied opponents, especially after the introduction of God’s gift to football, Mancoba ‘Spider’ Maseko and were unlucky to leave Nhlangano without a point.

Mangaliso Magagula stretched Leopard goalkeeper Phephisani for the first time in the match with a low drive just after the hour mark and was unlucky to see his goal bound effort blocked by Sifiso ‘Sushi’ Nkambule having rounded a charging Phephisani moments later.

It was clear a City goal would not be witnessed here as Melusi ‘Slender’ Dlamini’s ferocious header from a Linda Msibi cross on the left missed Phephisani’s upright by an inch with three minutes remaining.
Leopard, who paraded at least three former City players, Phephisani, Machawe Dlamini and Buhlebenkhosi Msibi had started the brightest with John Gama and Barry Steenkamp having a glimpse at goal in different chances in the opening half but failed to test Bheka Christie at the City sticks.

Bonginkosi ‘Manyovu’ Dlamini raced goal wards from 30 yards out just before the breather, charging to the big box but hit the side net with Bheka at his mercy.
After failing to bag maximum points in their last two league outings, Leopard are back to winning ways but for City it is the same result as the previous week and remain rooted at the basemen of the MTN log standings.
