MBABANE – Local cyclists have maintained their cutting edge in international races following a spirited display in Mozambique yesterday.

Sifiso Mhlanga was the champion of the 55km Mountain Bike (MTB) race, which was styled Quick Quick, in Maputo yesterday. The equally gifted pair of William Kelly and Sihawu Dlamini ranked second and third, respectively, to ensure the podium was dominated by the country’s cyclists.

The trio finished the course in 1 hour 55 seconds, with a second among them.
Kelly said the race was part of the preparations for the Commonwealth Games to be staged at Gold Coast in Australia next April.
“It was a fast route,” said Kelly.

Kelly is fresh from ranking second in the Inyatsi Swazi Frontier about a week ago. Both Mhlanga and Dlamini are also seasoned campaigners in the same event.
