MBABANE – The Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) has been left with a hot potato on its lap after the disappearance of the protest forms for the match between rivals Mbabane Swallows and Matsapha United.

Despite that Swallows did not confirm the protest, the forms went missing at the referees’ dressing rooms at Mavuso Sports Centre after the match. A source close to the matter said the referee on the night, Leticia Vienna, has submitted an affidavit instead of the protest to the PLS following the protest forms ‘growing legs’.

“It is still a mystery how the protest forms got lost. They were signed by both captains of the teams and handed over to the referee. Before the referees left the Mavuso Sports Centre, they noted that the protest forms were missing,” said the source.
Vienna was the referee between the two sides where she had an outstanding game.

She then officiated as a fourth official in the second match between Red Lions and Moneni Pirates. She left the forms at the dressing rooms only to be shocked to find them missing later on.

Swallows had lodged a protest after Matsapha United fielded players Sifiso Maseko and Khanyakwezwe Shabalala, who were suspended by the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS), for missing the national team, Sihlangu camp.

PLS Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati said he was still not aware of the matter as he was yet to see the submitted report.
“These days I have been working out of office and the reports have not yet reached my table. I will look into it once I have seen all the reports,” he said.
