LOBAMBA – In a tense-as-chess armed forces derby clash, former Moneni Pirates striker Ndumiso ‘Karas’ Dlamini sneaked behind the defence to nod home the winner that earned Young Buffaloes precious three points.

Why were the points so precious? They were attained with a depleted squad following injuries to key players comprising; Phiwa Dlamini, Siboniso Mamba, Nkosingiphile Nyandoro Tsabedze, Dumisani DU Mdluli to but a few. Add the fact that the victor took them to joint top with Mbabane Swallows in the MTN league log table with 17 points, but only second on inferior goal difference.
This how one can sum up the match whose snail pace was mostly as a result of the searing heat at the stadium.

Green Mamba, as their coach Harris ‘Madze’ Bulunga alluded to after the game, were sluggish in all departments. They seemed to be suffocating from the heat, to the point where their known creativity deserted them the whole afternoon. Trusted playmaker Njabulo Tfwala was a shadow of himself. The usually energetic forward, Banele Mdluli, looked isolated upfront, and even when they roped in former Matsapha United winger John Neguyane to shore up their attack, the South African pacey winger struggled.

For Buffaloes, they were a team content with keeping a clean sheet, while trying to catch their opponents on the counter. They lacked their known killer instincts in the absence of Phiwa. Even Ndoda Mthethwa tried to make things happen, but the heat took its toll.
