MBABANE – She has reached the apex of the golfing world but still remains humble – she wouldn’t hurt a straying fly.

Strutting her stuff as she walked inside the Times of Swaziland newsroom in the company of Sports Editor Lwazi Dlamini, golfing sensation Nobuhle Dlamini does not give any indication that she is a woman raking in thousands of Emalangeni from just playing golf but with every step, she looked like she had just stepped out of a fashion magazine in casual wear.

She reckons coming from humble beginnings in a big family of three brothers and four sisters of Nkhanini, Lobamba has helped shape her to the direction of greatness.

Nobuhle is a Swazi and a professional golfer currently ranked eighth in South Africa. With a tight schedule that more often than not keeps her away from home, she is back in the country for her off season with her next tournament only coming up on the second week of January, the Sunshine Tour and we got the perfect opportunity to tie her down for an exclusive interview….

Times: Welcome to the Times offices. Please take us through your golfing journey and how it all came about.
Nobuhle: It has been a long journey really that started back in 2004 at a golfing academy that was run by my late father, Johannes and sponsored by MTN. In 2006, I got a scholarship to study in South Africa where I matriculated in 2009 before joining the Tshwane University of Technology where I did my Degree in Sports Science. I turned professional in 2014 and have played a series of world events like the World Ladies Tour and I was competing in the United States just recently where I reached the final stage of the Ladies Professional Golf Association of America.

Times: How do you find the local standard and where can we improve?
