LOBAMBA – He came, ran and conquered the 3.3km beating over 60 participants.

That is Sam Mavuso (72), the winner of the Imbube Marathon 3.3km that started and finished at Somhlolo National Stadium on Sunday.
Mavuso said he was passionate about exercising.

“Look, this is a norm in my family as we usually do roadwork early in the morning and afternoon with my grandchildren. So I was ready by the time of the marathon,” Mavuso said.
He further thanked His Majesty for affording them the platform to compete as elderly people.

“This marathon encourages everyone to keep fit and healthy. As we speak, I am healthy because exercising is part of my lifestyle, and today(Sunday)we had to run and we were awarded, which was a bonus,” he said.
Meanwhile, Linga Vilakati (67), who won the 3.3km female category also shared the same sentiments.

“We appreciate what His Majesty has done for us,the fact that to partake in the race was free, was a relieve for many of us. Some of us could have not afforded to pay the registration fee, so we would like to say Bayethe Wena Waphakathi, the prize is a bonus, otherwise exercising helps one to stay healthy,” Vilakati said.
