MBABANE - Did five players break Sihlangu curfew on Friday night?

Manzini Sundowns duo of Justice Figuareido and Sandile Dlamini and three Young Buffaloes players, were according to a well-placed source at the ongoing Sihlangu 10-day camp at the Technical Centre, allegedly left without the consent of management. The Young Buffaloes trio is; Simphiwe Gamedze, Wandile Nhleko and Siboniso Mamba who had joined camp on Thursday.
They were then conspicuously missing during Saturday afternoon’s training session held at the Prince of Wales Stadium.

Others who missed the training were Felix Badenhorst and Matsapha United goalkeeper Khanyakwezwe Shabalala. “Figuareido was fetched in camp by a Sundowns official (name deliberately withhold for ethical reasons) on the basis that the club was playing on Monday (tonight) against Mbabane Midas City,” the source said. When quizzed on the absent players, Coach Pieter De Jongh said he would not say anything to the media on the matter, but would submit his report on the camp to the FA CEO Frederick Mngomezulu as per the procedure. He did note though that Samkelo ‘Rheo’ Lushaba was assessed by the team and released following his fracture in a league match against Manzini Wanderers.
FA Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe, who attended Saturday afternoon’s Media Day, said they could only respond once they had received the report on the camp from the Technical Bench.

“All we can say is that the camp will run for 10 days and anything that occurred there, we hope will be in the coaches’ report,” he said.
Manzini Sundowns PRO Muzi Matsenjwa confirmed that they had to go and take the players from the Sihlangu camp after receiving a fixture from the PLS about tonight’s MTN League tie against Mbabane Midas City.
However, he said they did seek permission from the Sihlangu management. “We lament the late Monday night fixture which has not happened in Swaziland in recent times, unless of course if the Monday is a holiday, even then games take place during the day not at night,” he said. Efforts to get Young Buffaloes CEO Sandile Gwebu were not successful as his cellphone rang unanswered for the better part of yesterday.
