MBABANE – Elite rookies Matsapha United are less intimidated by their MTN Premier League rivals and reigning champions Mbabane Swallows ahead of Wednesday evening’s clash.

The rookies’ coach Samuel Chamunika from Zimbabwe feels his side can no longer be as intimidated as they were when they did the unthinkable, beating Swallows 1-0 in the SwaziBank Cup Last 16 early this year.
“We were in First Division then so you can imagine how intimidating they were to us but now we play in the same league. They are coming on a revenge mission so we have nothing to lose but the three points. We beat them once and can do it again,” he said. He said the best part about the fixture was that every player, even those injured wanted to be fit for selection.

“They’re the reigning champions and team to beat. I think the team that will settle quickest will win the match. We are preparing for them and I am certain that if we can be ready psychologically we will give them a run for their money,” he said. He said that he would also be telling his players to forget about the SwaziBank Cup success over the red and white giants from the Capital City but focus on this match. His Swallows’ counterpart Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati did not have much to say at this stage.

“They are not special but just another team we’re playing within the PLS. They are nothing like Highlanders or Wanderers for me to start talking about them,” he said.
Vilakati said he could only share his views on this fixture tomorrow once their preparations were done. Swallows are currently leading with 13 points on the log table while Matsapha are second on 11 points and to take lead, they must beat Swallows who are fresh from winning the Mbabane Derby against Highlanders, who they beat 1-0.
