MBABANE – Anglers’ confidence levels are sky high as they leave for South Africa in search of the biggest live bass.

An eight-member squad made up seasoned anglers will leave for South Africa this morning to compete in the 13th World Black Bass Championships to be staged at Vaal River, outside Johannesburg.
Team Swaziland is no pushover in the global championships and the anglers have vowed ‘to paint’ South Africa gold. The performance of the national side is headlined by the silver medal, which was reaped during the 2012 instalment in Venezuela.
Participating teams include holders, Portugal, Germany, Croatia and the hosts, South Africa, to mention but a few.
The team will leave around 7am today.

The budget for the trip was about E240 000.  Swaziland Angling Association (SAA) President, Derek Hopf, thanked sponsors, especially Swazi Plaza Properties and the Swaziland National Sport and Recreation Council for making the trip possible.
Other partners include Galp, Montigny, Architects International, Ekhaya Properties and Figueireo Investments.
Below is a closer look at the team that is out to hoist the country’s flag again. Sean Franck is the manager.
