MANZINI – Manzini Wanderers supporters were left disgruntled after directors called them to meeting, only to shun it.

Over 60 faithful supporters along with members of the Council of Elders of the hub giants, converged at Manzini Library for the meeting and left with more questions than answers. The supporters in different views opened the floor by saying they sense disrespect from the directors headed by Bheki Shongwe.
Other members of the Board of Directors are Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini and Peter Mathaba. The directors met with the council of elders and the National Supporters Committee (NSC) last Monday at The George Hotel and set yesterday’s date for a meeting with the supporters.

“Though I have not received any correspondence from them on why they are not here, let me apologise on their behalf. Such a meeting was also meant to break the impulse between them (directors) and the supporters. It is a pity they are not here when they are key in addressing some of your concerns,” said Council of Elders Chairman Sipho Ntshalintshali to the gathering.
One supporter said they were running out of patience with the current directors and that the team’s call for peace at games will be under siege soonest. He questioned the criteria used when determining the maroon and white giants’ directors. “We have a problem with them and this is pure disrespect. The directors are not running this team as a people’s institution.”

The supporters were expecting to get answers on the criteria used to select a leaked Management Committee (MC) for the new season, headed by Pat Mahlalela as Chief Executive Officer, get feedback from the recently announced Swazi Mobile sponsorship and the MTN Swaziland proposal through their Mobile Money service among other burning issues.
The meeting was informed that the new MC has not been confirmed just as yet, as that process was expected during the meeting.
“Actually, after our last meeting last Monday, it was agreed that the new MC was to be blessed today. They are not officially in office as yet, it’s just Mahlalela (Pat) who was asked to help with registration last Friday,” clarified Ntshalintshali.

Unconfirmed allegations by one supporter against Mahlalela, which cannot be repeated for ethical reasons, were made and were quickly quashed by the meeting. In response, Mahlalela said he was not making money but getting drained for being in the MC.
