NO FREE ENTRY FOR PLAYERS

MBABANE – Premier League and First Division players will have to pay to watch any games organised by the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS).


In an immediate communiqué released by the PLS Chief Operations Officer (COO), Pat Vilakati, yesterday, amid grumbles from certain football stakeholders, among others coaches, the organisation put it in no uncertain terms that only the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) executive members, NFAS affiliates executive members and NFAS Sub-Committees will gain free entry to their games.


Previously, players, coaches and referees, among other stakeholders, used to gain free entry at games. In a letter to the NFAS, the PLS states categorically clear that entrance to all their matches is reserved for Executive Members from the  NFAS, PLS, Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA), Shiselweni Regional Football Association (SRFA), Manzini Regional Football Association (MRFA), Lubombo Regional Football Association (LRFA), Swaziland Football Coaches Association (SFCA), Women Football Association (WFA), Referees Association, Referees Committee members, NFAS Sub-Committees, Government official and sponsors only.


“Everyone who does not fall under the above listed committees or stakeholders is unauthorised to enter the stadium without paying. Athletes/ players and officials are also expected to pay when they are not playing or officiating,” read the PLS message.


The PLS also reminded stakeholders of who is expected to occupy the Somhlolo National Stadium Royal Box. In another statement, Vilakati said clubs are informed that the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs has complained that during PLS games, some clubs’ fans and or supporters occupy the Royal Box and blow vuvuzelas and whistles, drinking alcohol and bring children which is not allowed and or prohibited.
