MBABANE – Darren Dazza Christie’s much anticipated debut for Matsapha United has been deferred again.

This follows last night’s decision by the Players Status Committee comprising of Johannes ‘Ace’ Siboza, Mpumelelo Mabuza, and Thulani Mavuso and headed by former PLS Chairman Sipho Matse to postpone the matter.

The reason was that Mbabane Swallows, who are contesting the player’s plea to be declared a free agent, had to withdrew their legal representative Mduduzi ‘Tsotsi’ Mabila just when the case was about to start. ‘Dazza’s representative in the matter, former PLS CEO Zakhele Dlamini confirmed that the matter had been deferred to next week, while Swallows sought the services of another legal representative.

“Apparently Mabila was meant to represent Swallows but he received a call and after the call he told us that he cannot represent the team because there was a conflict of interest in the matter as he is a member of the PLS executive,” Dlamini said.
Dlamini said they were not deterred by the postponement because there was still time for the player to be registered when the case is finally concluded next week.

Mabila, who had been instructed by the Mdladla Attorneys refused to comment on the issue saying he was rushing home. ‘Dazza’ was present during the case and he was looking relaxed after the case. The player has been playing for Manzini Sundowns but his contract with the Kappa Boys is over. Sundowns are said to have put it on record that his former team Mbabane Swallows and the latter would decide on his fate.

However, the player felt that he was being frustrated thus he took the matter to the Players’ Status Committee where he is seeking the intervention of the committee to help him to be a free agent. ‘Dazza’ has been training with Matsapha United and if cleared to join his team of his choice he is highly likely to join the ‘Deep Blue Ocean’.
