EZULWINI – Swazi football last night’ tasted the power behind Swazi Mobile’s ‘We Work, We Connect, We Serve, slogan.

The ground breaking E10.5 Million Swazi Mobile Football Support initiative was launched last night at a glittering event held at the Royal Swazi Convention Centre in the presence of Acting Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Owen Nxumalo and ICT Minister Dumisani Ndlangamandla. When unpacking the deal, Acting Swazi Mobile CEO Wandile Mtshali said part of the money will go towards the teams’ administration costs.

However, the long term benefits of the deal will be the empowerment side of the sponsorship where among other things teams will be exposed to revenue generating opportunities that the company will avail as it spread its wings countrywide, through the construction of bay stations.

There will also be opportunities for clubs to engage their fans through selling airtime where the commission from the proceeds will go to the teams and the individual fans.

“We are here to unveil a sponsorship with which we believe will see us partnering football in the next coming years. The deal will also help empower Swazis who will sell our products and generate revenue for themselves and their clubs,” he said. The company further alluded to the fact that the sponsorship might have started with the four teams, but the bigger picture was getting five teams from both National First Division League. There will also be four teams from the region going forward.

On top of that the company will employ players from the benefitting teams. “The essence of the whole thing is to get players to work in the company in between their morning and afternoon training session. They will be trained on certain jobs and we can assure that there will be no exploitation as they will be paid for the services rendered,” he said.
